Day 1 - 2
After the mask is removed, your skin will look and feel like it is sunburnt. This is an intensive treatment, and it is expected that you may feel tightness, redness, swelling and heat on the area being treated. This is all normal and to be expected.

Day 2 - 3
will be when you start to see some mild to heavy shedding of the skin and is probably the worst day your skin will look and feel. 

From here, it will then reduce to a milder flaking and last anywhere from up to 7 or 14 days. with a slight pinkness to skin tone expected which may last up to 30 days as the new skin cycle comes in.

By the 10-14
day mark the process will be completed, skin tone and colour will be heading back to normal, and you will be seeing dramatically reduced pigmentation which will continue to fade with the use of Cosmelan 2 across the coming weeks.

Realistically you'll be out of action for 3-7 days (where you may wish to hide at home, or just own it and continue with work and life as you would normally!)

After the second or third week of treatment with cosmelan®, the skin is visibly improved. The spots are lighter and less noticeable, while the skin has a more youthful appearance and radiant glow.

The Cosmelan method has a fast-acting de-pigmentation and gentle exfoliating effect and can be used on all skin phototypes from dark to fair.

Dramatic results in the reduction of unwanted pigmentation is seen after one treatment but can be repeated on a 6-12 month basis to maintain results if desired and medically appropriate.

There are many forms of hyperpigmentation from freckles and age spots to a more focused "clumping" of pigmentation otherwise known as melasma. This overproduction of melanin can be triggered by many things including UV exposure, inflammation, acne scarring, skin injury, hormones, pregnancy and even medication such as the pill or thyroxine.

Other de-pigmentation treatments, such as laser or chemical peels, limit their action to removing the appearance of the pigment accumulated in the skin and making the spot less visible, but their reappearance cannot be avoided. cosmelan® has a dual visible corrective and regulating action to treat the concern and help prevent the recurrence of visible pigment.
